News From the School, Jan 6, 2019

Welcome Back Owl Family!! We hope that you enjoyed your time with friends and family. We are excited as we enter to the second half of the school year. Please be sure to read this email in its entirety, as it contains very important updates

1) Arrival Procedures and Supervision

Effective Jan 7, ALL scholars are to be dropped off in the "U" for arrival. Scholars can arrive beginning at 8:00am. Once scholars arrive, they will be directed to the multipurpose room of the Lovett Building for adequate safety and supervision. We have designated staff members who will monitor the scholars in the multipurpose room, as well as staff who will monitor the pathways. Scholars will no longer wait outside their classrooms, play around the school, etc. Scholars will be picked up from the multipurpose room by their teachers and escorted to their classrooms.

2) Breakfast Procedures

If your scholar eats breakfast at school, scholars will need to arrive to school prior to 8:25. The kitchen closes at 8:30am, and we want to be sure that your child has time to grab their food and eat. Scholars will report directly to the kitchen upon arrival, and then go to the multipurpose room.

3) Late Arrival: After 8:45am

All parents who arrive after 8:45am are required to walk their child into A2 to sign them in. Scholars will then receive a pass from the front office to take to their teacher. If you do not sign them in, you may be called to turnaround and officially sign them in. For safety reasons, we must have parents sign their scholar in when the scholar is late to school.

4) Advisory Time and Lunch Time Changes

We have shifted advisory times from 12:30-12:55pm to 8:45-9:12am. Advisory will be held in the homeroom teacher's class. Lunch times have shifted 20-30mins later than previously scheduled.

5) Google Classroom and Student Email Addresses

As we kick off our Google Classroom initiative at CHCS, this requires that all students have a CHCS-provided email address. Please look forward to more communication very soon regarding student email addresses and their login information. Note: all student email addresses that were issued last year have been deactivated, as they were not created with an "stu" extension/identifier. We want to be sure that our scholar email address are accurately identified as student email addresses.

6) School Account Balances

CHCS will no longer continue to provide a full lunch to families who have outstanding meal balances. Letters were sent home with scholars who have an outstanding balances in December. Please be sure to access your MySchoolBucks account. If you do not have this login information, please contact Stephanie Porter (stephanie.porter@chatthillscharter.org). Scholars who have a high meal balance will receive a notification tomorrow as they pick up their meal, as well as sent to the front office to call home to ensure that you are aware of the balance. Effective Tuesday, Jan 8, any scholar that has a balance over $100 will be provided a cheese sandwich meal which includes a cheese sandwich and milk at the cost of $1.00. As it is not our goal to serve children cheese sandwiches for lunch, please make payments on your child's meal account!

7) 2019-2020 Recommitment Forms

Please complete the 2019-2020 Recommitment Form to indicate your enrollment decision for the 2019-2020 school year. Failure to complete the 2019-2020 Recommitment Form by January 18, 2019 will result in your child losing his/her enrollment seat at CHCS for the 2019-2020 school year.

8) Saturday Academies (Coming Soon)
